Dr. Brian Harrington MD, FRCS(C)

Dr. Harrington opened his practice here in his hometown of Peterborough and joined The Peterborough Clinic in the spring of 2007.

He completed his Bachelor of Science in Physiology from McGill University in 1997 and went on to receive his Medical Degree from the University of Western Ontario with in 2001. Dr. Harrington completed his specialty in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dalhousie University in 2006.

Dr. Harrington’s area of practice is Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He practices in all areas of his field and has a special interest in IUD placements. He will be running an IUD clinic at least once per month starting in 2024 to ensure a shorter wait time for consults for this specific indication. Any additional consult spots available in those time slots will be used for other urgent concerns. Dr. Harrington no longer performs hysterectomies as part of his operative gynaecology practice, but he does offer all other aspects of generalist gynaecologic surgery. In addition to his work in the Clinic, Dr. Harrington has been the Head Gyne Preceptor for the Queen’s Family Medical Residency program in Peterborough and volunteers on various committees at the Peterborough Regional Health Clinic.

Dr. Harrington held the position of Chief of OB/GYN at PRHC from 2014 through to March 2024.

He is a member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
