Dr. Steve Brien graduated from the Queen’s University Faculty of Medicine in 1980 and
then completed Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship training at
McMaster University in Hamilton.

Dr. Brien joined the Peterborough Clinic in 1985. He is a staff gastroenterologist at
Peterborough Regional Health Centre and he was the Chief of the Department of
Medicine at PRHC from 2007 to 2012.

His practice involves providing consultation and procedural services in gastroenterology
and hepatology, including upper GI endoscopy, push enteroscopy, ERCP including
polypectomy, esophageal dilatation, endotherapy of bleeding lesions and therapeutic
stenting of esophageal, duodenal, colonic and biliary strictures.

He proudly has four wonderful children. In his spare time, he enjoys travel, golfing,
skiing, curling, sailing and playing hockey with the Peterborough Quacks doctor’s hockey
team.

Dr. Brien is a member of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, the Ontario Association of Gastroenterology,
and he is a Fellow with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
